Greta had her 15 month check-up today (a few weeks overdue). My heart broke when they walked her up to the standing scale (for big girls). I wasn't ready for that and she looked so grown-up standing on the scale. Jace and I were so sure she had really chunked up since her last appointment. To us, her legs seem so much chubbier and she seems so tall. But, as you can see from the stats below, she has not done much chunking up. No cause for concern though. The doc is pleased with her progress over the last 15 months and her growth curve is steadily increasing (especially her big noggin).
WEIGHT: 20 lbs (8th percentile)
HEIGHT: 30 in (14th percentile)
HEAD: 47 cm (75th percentile)
What we didn't bargain for is the impromptu breathing treatment. Greta has had a cold for the last few days, but we didn't have any concerns about it. But the doc heard some wheezing when she listened to her chest. So to clear her airways, they did a breathing treatment. It was an absolute train wreck from start to finish. She absolutely hated it and made sure we knew. Trying to hold down my protesting daughter for 6 minutes...it seemed like hours. Thankfully the treatment did the trick and her oxygen levels were back at 100%. However, we were sent home with a prescription for a breathing inhaler. I'm hoping she handles the at-home treatments better, because we will be doing them 3 times a day for the next 10 days. Hopefully the follow-up appt. goes well and she will be done with the inhaler before we leave for Maui.
Our big 15 month old is quite the chatterbox. We think she has picked up fluent Chinese somewhere along the way. Whatever she is saying, she really means it. We love having "conversations" with Greta. It is always good entertainment.
Some of the words we can understand are: MAMA, DADA, BABY, HI, SHOE, THANK YOU ("Tane too"), and her favorite word, NO!.
