Date Night

Grandma and Grandpa Keever stayed with Greta while Jace and I went out to dinner on Saturday. It was really nice to spend some time just the two of us. It has been a long 3 weeks and it felt good to escape for a little while.

Greta is 3 weeks old

Greta is 3 weeks old and is well over 6 pounds now. She is eating a lot and growing fast. Jace and I are still trying to adjust to parenthood and the sleep deprivation. She is often very alert in the wee hours of the morning and makes some of the cutest expressions, so we try to appreciate those moments as much as possible...but it is not easy.

Goodbye Grandma Teresa

Jace's mom stayed for a week to help us out and give Greta plenty of Grandma love. We were very sad to see her go and know Greta misses her too. As you can see from the picture, Blue is having a hard time sharing his Grandma with his new sister.

You Are Never Too Old To Need Your MAMA

Jace, Greta, and I have been so lucky to have my mom with us since we came home from the hospital. We had no idea how rough this time would be and we can't imagine how we would have done it without her. Greta has been enjoying plenty of bonding time with Grandma Mary and we are very sad to see her go. Luckily, Grandma Teresa will be here today and there will be no shortage of Grandma-love for Miss Greta.

More Greta...

Greta Caroline Smith is Here!

Our little girl made a surprise appearance on Saturday, January 10th. Its a long story that starts with me having severe abdominal pains that led Jace and I to the emergency room. They weren't typical contractions, but I knew something was really wrong. After hours of tests and horrible pain, the doctors decided that my appendix needed removed and they would do a c-section to take the baby too. After a scary rush into surgery, they ended up putting me totally out. I woke up a few hours later with news of a beautiful baby girl, but had to wait a few hours to even see her. We found out that it wasn't my appendix, but my uterus had ruptured and I was bleeding internally. It was very scary and we are so thankful that our baby girl is doing well. God was watching over our family and we are so thankful.

She is pint size at 5 pounds, 0 ounces. However, she is eating well and will hopefully be packing on the pounds quickly. Plenty of pictures to follow.

Angels Welcome Here...

Although it is not quite finished, I wanted to share some pictures of Princess Smith's little nest. I still have some things to hang on the walls, but it is nearly complete. Her Aunt Nikki did an excellent job on the crib bedding and window treatments. Enjoy!

Daddy Duties

Lucky for Jace, his wife has been the super-assembler with all things baby. But it was time for him to have a hand in the process. If only his 18-year-old self could see him now...we've sure come a long way in the last decade.
