"I am ONE"

It's Fun to be ONE!
One year ago, our family became three! This year has been the longest year and the shortest year of our lives (depending on the day you ask). But either way, it has been the most amazing year! Greta has enriched every single day since January 10, 2009.
On Sunday, family and friends braved the FREEZING temps and came to celebrate Greta's big day with a Ladybug Party. There was no shortage of cake, cupcakes, and ice cream, and Greta enjoyed her ceremonial "smash" cake. She pretty much stuck to the icing and by the end she looked a little drunk on sugar.

Baby, it's cold outside!
We had a nice big snow last week and I thought Greta should be introduced to snow...Daddy disagreed. Which is a good time to mention that Jace is surprisingly the more overprotective parent. I never saw this coming, but since day one, he has always been very cautious when it concerns Greta. And by cautious I mean, he didn't want me to take her to the grocery store for the first several months of her life. He would even volunteer to do the shopping to keep her away from Walmart.
So I guess it is no surprise that he disapproved of snow play in freezing temps. Nonetheless, when he got home from work, I bundled Greta up in several layers and we braved the elements for 5 minutes. There wasn't much playing in the snow...but it sure was cute to see her all bundled up.

Ringing in 2010
We rang in the New Year with the Halls and the Millers in Monticello. We had a great time watching The Hangover and playing Trivial Pursuit Pop Culture. The ladies celebrated with lots of chatter and the boys with the always reliable Coors and Jagermeister. Guess which one of us drove?
Looking forward to 2010!
